Arch&Design vs MILA!

 

 

The Mila Paket (Shader Utilities + Render Optimizer) is finish and no Errors. I am happy. :)

 

 

- Render Optimizer V5 is for MILA, and all works.

- Shader Utilities at 3dsmax2016 works with MILA 100%.

can someone explain to me:

 

MILA materials - wtf?! this is new?

MDL materials - this is only with iray+ right?

IRAY materials - this is old and outdated, going away?

MIA materials - is this "arch & design" in current max?

Why MILA? (MILA based on MDL)

 

Older materials have a few issues:

 

--Not easily layered or if they are layered they are very inefficient. This means running light loops, samples, etc, once for each material connected. This means huge render times.

--Not physically based when layered, they break essentially

--Not portable from package to package

--Hacks used to speed up renders are non-physical and are a lot of work to tweak and tune.

--Black-box rendering, the core has no idea what's going on when a ray gets handed to the older materials, it cannot optimize.

 

MDL exists in the core and allows things like automatic optimization, fewer controls, and physical layering. It's just easier with fewer controls and physical by default.

 

Here's the official site for learning how to make MDL and understand it from scratch, but many applications using MDL (Iray, Bunkspeed, Substance, etc) come with their own, you don't have to author them yourself: http://mdlhandbook.com/

Hi Guys + Girls,

 

 

here e new Example why i prever MILA. Sometimes look a normal Shading easy, but if you want it 100% correct need you more Details.

 

 

JOB: Create a old Wood that have a thin pain on the surface.

- the first layer is a diffuse reflection with a Bump Wood Texture.

- the second layer is a glossy reflection with a noise bump

- third layer is a specular (sharp) reflection without bump.

PS: you can right mouse click on all Images,and open in a new windoow for higher resolution.

OK this is my last Mila Posting at this Year. :keenly:

 

Hi Guys & Girls,

 

MILA: Ceramic/Porcelain and Plastic/Vinyl have now Subsurface Scattering

 

For Close up Rendering, i need more realistic details, and have added Scattering to Ceramic and Plastic Pro-Materials. MILA Scatter don´t need a lightmap. :)

 

Please use RIGHT MOUSE CLKICK and save the Image for better Resolution.

Ok this is the live!

 

Jonathan Bäcker have wrote a new DLL (3dsmax2106) for MILA Render Elements, and now have we all Render Elements for MILA, and more. :)

 

Second i have programming a new Material: MILA Microfaced.

This Image is 100% MILA - mental ray. At January gives two important Workflow Tutorials (Lights + Render Settings), and than can you delete Vray, Arnold, Octane, Corona and Iray+ from your Harddisk. ;)

 

 

PS: the small Highlight are Specular Highlights! MILA can calculate the shape of the light for Specular Lights. That is amazing new, and give your Image a very realistic tuch.
