Photometric vs Vray lights.

Hello there,

 

I am doing the step from mental ray to vray and I was wondering wether Photometric lights work with vray or I have to use the vray lights. Is there any difference? Do I have to use vray ligths as long as I render with vray or photometric lights do the same thing?

You're free to use both, you just simply select Vray shadows in classic 3ds Max lights (it works for other rendering engines same way). 3dsMax lights provide little bit more control over light but I do personally find them bit redundantly robust.
