garygalloway
I tried to post a few days ago but hit hasn't show up. so apologies if this is ends up a double post. First time building a PC, Using it to learn & Develop skills in 3Ds Max and Vray. So primary use will be Arch modelling and Rendering. I sometimes use Photoshop for photography editing. Budget is around £800-£900 but can go to around £1K if its going to be worth it. Below is the parts I have picked so far. Looking for advice on anything that would be changed. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-6700 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor (£248.98 @ CCL Computers) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 54.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (£23.95 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170N-Gaming 5 Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard (£125.89 @ Dabs) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory (£72.90 @ More Computers) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£56.26 @ Amazon UK) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Superclocked Video Card (£94.99 @ Novatech) Case: Corsair 380T Mini ITX Tower Case (£97.98 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA GS 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (£64.99 @ Aria PC) Total: £785.94 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-12-21 11:17 GMT+0000 NOTES I went ITX because I really like that case. And it will be sitting on top of my desk. So small and good looking are key. Never went for 6700K as I have no clue about overclocking. PSU, also no clue when it comes to these. Used a couple online calculators and choose a higher rating. GPU. Not sure if this card would be overkill for max? I'm aware all M/Vray rendering is CPU based. I have old hard drives from laptops I plan to use.
kothu
Hi GxTwo, for CPU what about i7 5820K. if u intended to do rendering (e.g arch viz) i think u will need more cores. for modeling i think u need at least x60 series (i.e GTX 560, 660, 760, 960 etc) with at least 2 GB of Vram. the 750 will make ur viewport sluggish when u model large scene or handling with too much poly. joelmcwilliam
Wattage of psu is more than enough. Components nowadays are energy efficient. http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story6&reid=438 Seasonic has also a cheap modulair psu with black flat cables with good effeciency. Seasonic M12II Evo 520W Guess black and white ram sticks from kingston (fury) would also look nice. Ram speed is not important. If your are not overclocking just buy a cheap mini itx mobo. You won't see any performance difference between the higher priced models. If you do buy a mobo that allows you to overclock it is wiser to buy the overclockable cpu as well. Buy a beefy cpu cooler with that. Don't worry, overclocking anno 2015 in so easy. Asus and msi do have some nice fan control options in their bios. Opt to leave the gpu out and see how the software responses on the gpu build in the cpu (igpu). You can always add a gpu later. Case is personal, can't argue about that, However mini itx only has two ram slots. And nikolas has a very good point. You could go for the 5820k.
