Jon Berntsen
In max design 2015 and all previous versions, I could drag and drop a bitmap from a windows explorer window, onto the slate material editor, and get a bitmap instance from it. In max 2016, I find it impossible to do the same, and the only way to load a bitmap seems to be creating a bitmap map and then load via the bitmap button, which uses a horrible horrible dialouge box, where you can't even paste in a path in the address bar. That's not a viable solution to me, and it seems strange if such a great drag & drop feature is suddenly removed. Anybody know how to enable it? Thanks! Jon Berntsen
Ok! Simple solution, but not that intuitive to find. You cannot run max as administrator, as that will disable ability to drag and drop images into the editor. I ran max with "run as administrator" disabled, then it worked! I've got the same problem. I do models for mobile games and my workflow is like this" I model my objects, then i make a copy of the file, and then i drag&drop textures on it to experiment. When i finished testing the textures, i open the first file ( the one with no materials on it ) and start creating materials with my chosen textures. Suddenly the drag and drop doesn't work anymore and it would take much more time to create a material for every single test texture. Also, i don't know how to open a 3ds max file without administrator rights. Please help.
