Jape
Hi all, im about to buy a new system for around 1600euro (2000usd) but im wondering if it would be better to wait for Nforce4 with SLI wich would be becoming available in December. And would allow me a nice upgrade when pluggin in a second videocard. I was actually considering an intel system before i started wondering about sli. So wich one would you recommend for allround workstation purpose (3dsmax, Photoshop, (heavy)excel, CAD etc.): P4 550j 3,4ghz s775 Asus P5AD2-E Premium, 925XE (Sound, LAN, W-LAN, SATA-RAID, 1394) Geforce 6600 ultra pci-e or; AMD Athlon 64 3500+ ASUS A8N-SLI Nforce4 Geforce 6600 ultra pci-e I haven't come across a review about the 2 vidcards in SLI when it comes to workstation purposes yet (3dsmax) though performance increase would be around 60-80%. I chose the 6600 becease i dont want an ATI cause of the bad 3dsmax and opengl performance/reliability (am i right?). And for now there is no 6800 with pci-e and they are quite pricey Also the AMD vs INTEL on workstation purposes have not been really clear, especially for rendering would an AMD64 3500+ beat an INTEL P4 3,4ghz (or pherhaps an P4 3,6)? After being out of the hardware for a while, all the new names and benchmarks are making me dizzy so any info is appreciated Jape,
