mahmoudelgohary
hello guys , hope you are all doing well =) there is this problem that driving me crazy , i have no idea if am bumping a setting too much or what , now i made a scene , an interior scene not complex at all its still in progress , when i press render 3ds max just stops responding and closes without any msg , or it says 3ds max unexpected error and asks me to send a report to autodesk while its not really a 3ds max problem , and for my surprise someitmes it just works !! it crashed exactly at building light cache , if it went over past the first couble of secs without crashing it won't i downloaded a complete scene tried to spam start stop the render , it never did what its doing in my file , while bumping the settings to the exact settings i have on my own file i've had those crashes on both 3ds max 2016 with vray 3.2 and 3ds max 2015 with vray 3.0.8 (for that exact file) my pc specs are rather on the powerfull side processor : intel core i7 5820k @ 4.0ghz mobo : asus x99-a rams : team elite ddr4 8gb x 2 psu : seasonic 850w bronze cooling : nzxt kraken x61 graphics card : gtx 970 windforce hdd : seagate barracuda 2tb windows 10 professional i have done windows memory check turns out to be 0 errors on the rams , tried memtest too and it also passed that and here are the pics of the project am having the struggles with http://imgur.com/a/ZbC4T http://imgur.com/MUQeu59 plugins used/installed : railclone , forestpack , floorgenerator , placement plugin , sweep plugin Edited January 18, 2016 by mahmoudelgohary
himanshuchoudhary
Are you using multiscatter in the scene? i have seen crashes right at the time of building lightcache if there is any object in the multiscatter with a normal map in the material. unlink this normal map(usually in the bump slot) and check.
