mrjackel
I have Lidar data as a .asc file. I want to create terrain from it, to use to design a building. I mostly use 3ds Max, but it seems it cannot import a .asc file. Can anyone help?
numerobis
You could use Autodesk ReCap to convert it to RCS to import the points or Meshlab to generate a mesh.
mrjackel
I brought the .asc into Meshlab, but have not been able to get a correct mesh out of it. The file is 50cm lidar data (DTM), so I'd expect there to be a lot of detail, and the local area has a steep slope in it. All I see in Meshlab is an undetailed flat area. It'd be great if someone could take a look at it. https://murren.sharefile.com/d-sccf83c1309e47fba
