Francisco Penaloza
You always have to think as a photographer, if you don't know photography, try to read the basics. When Lighting a scene there is 2 main factors, Lighting intensity and exposure, the way our eyes see light is compleatly different to photo cameras. VRay cameras work pretty similar to photo cameras. If you look on the internet similar photos you are not far from what your scene should look like, all what you have to do is adjust your exposure to compensate the lack of light (F-Stop 3 speed 40 ISO 100 is not enough, in real life that should your go around the 1 second exposure or more, and about 800 ISO depending of your FStops). Of course the bright areas will become very bright because the accentuated diference between light and dark areas, very little light bouncing. Color mapping will help here, in real life a photographer would take several exposures to balance the image. Besides that, you have to deal with GI, this is not related directly to your lighting and exposure, but in CG world it is affected in some degree, for instance, since you have a few lights, your GI or indirect lighting, has to work more, then you'll get more noisy images. In VRay 3 the default values should give you a decent image, at cost of rendering time. but if you have little or small light sources you'll have to increase your GI settings to get cleaner images, this will create longer rendering time of course I would recommend first, to deal with lighting and exposure, when you get the look that you are looking for, then worry about how to clean your image, if this mean using more lights, then you need to consider to adjust your exposure accordingly.
