Hello there,

 

I am new in the industry but I would like to give a shot and test the quality of my job through competitions. Where do you normaly learn about a competition? Is there a website about that? How can I know the competitions are open right now?

I guess it's the architects that scouts for potential projects that will contact 3d studio when they need renderings. Not the opposite. I might be wrong tho. I'd like to know!

It's nice to see all the different renderings that have been submitted.

If we talk about real projects, then yes architects have to search for it. But I was wondering if there are any competitions only for the quality of the renderings and not for the design proposals in them.

Vineyard Challenge was one (for unreal engine 4), challenge made by Ronen Bekerman

I think polycount have competitions regularly (cgi in general)

cgtalk has ongoing challenges based around subjects/themes and divided into modeling/lighting categories. You get some great feedback from very knowledgeable professionals. The lighting ones are especially useful for someone starting out in environmental work.
