tips for modeling a piece of a lamp

I am trying to model the piece circled in red https://imgur.com/a/QS59j

 

for the life of me i can't get it. i can do the two side pieces easily with splines, but the two parts are connected with the rounded back part. that is the part giving me trouble.

 

it seems like i may have to model it by just extruding edges or something. any suggestions would be really appreciated
