Francisco Penaloza
what are you trying to archive? if you remove some faces or part of a mesh in 3d max you'll the the thin wall and empty interior of the mesh, there are not solids in 3D max. If you want to section some elements you may need to model the inside also. if you understand this, you can use the slice modifier, you can add as many as you need to create the effect. To cover the wholes created, you could use the cap modifier, but depending of your mesh it may not create the effect that you are looking for FYI. miguelcalvo
Like this? I used booleans for every piece of this valve, The slice modifier has the limit of slice objects only by a 2D plane.

Scott Schroeder
Outside of the Vray Clipper object, the easiest way to do this in Max would be to use multiple slice modifiers set to just refine the mesh, and use an edit poly on top of that to delete the geometry. Though if your object is modeled correctly and if it is like your example, you don't need to slice it. Just use an edit poly modifier, so you can turn it off if you want and get your faces back, and just literally delete the section you don't want. If you need to cap the holes, either bridge or cap them in that edit poly modifier.

Francisco Penaloza
the same apply as mentioned by Scott. Also you could have two renderings one with the whole thing and other only with the 1/4 and blend them together in Photoshop. It may be easy to setup the scene. Just an idea.
