joshuaputz
Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me out. I'm doing my 1st shopping centre rendering (exterior) and I was wondering how do you render all the shops? I cant model 20+ shop interiors?? I was thinking I should map shop interior images onto the glass? any help would be greatly appreciated as my deadline looms. lol. thank you in advance Josh
Nicolai Bongard
That depends on what you feel you can get away with. If you think it looks good with interior images mapped onto the glass, then go for it. If you require 3d models of shops however, vizpeople offer a nice pack with 3d models of shops and other shopping centre themed objects.
heni30
Just google "shopping mall rendering" and you'll get a lot of good ideas. I'm sure you can also find a ton of shop pics that can be mapped on. If your view is angled, the closer ones might have to be modeled. But even those can be simple - ceiling w lights, shelves with colored boxes for merchandise and a point of purchase/ cashier fixture.

Ernest Burden III
Maybe this -- model the spaces in terms of open with some lights, throw some random, simple boxes in for tables and shelves, put a few mannequin models into one or two windows for clothing shops and render. You will find that the glass will 'surface' on most of it and the hints of interior will be enough. Then for some closer shops map photos over the rendering in Photoshop in Softlight mode or multiply mode if it's very bright inside. Do not replace the render, enhance it. Use Distort to fit the photos to the rendered windows of similar shape/angle. You can always just go out to a mall with your final shot in hand printed out and shoot what you need.
