So it seems that you dind't follow the SCO against everything Linux summertheater about old Unix patents SCO maybe has.

The same was with ipix, they forced you to pay for every picture you make with their software, and they have bought some old patents that discribe how to make a spherical panorama out of two fisheye images. Thats why they tried to sue everyone who makes or shows how to make nearly the same (Mr Dersch for example, the maker of PTStitcher...his website is still offline), and thats why you see on QTVR sites sometimes an ipix-free banner. That was two years ago as far as i remember.

So good luck with youre cruiseship interior renderings.

Oh, OK, I was aware of the Linux/Unix suit, I just didn't remember the name. And I must have missed the ipix rights-grab, then. Well, that's very interesting. As I was saying, Lightscape just outputs sphericals that play perfectly with PTviewer. Too bad if they went after the good Doctor--he has given away so much of his hard work just for the love of imaging. Pity to attack so generous a man.

I was busy earlier today trying to figure out if c4d can or can not do a proper spherical projection. I really do want to be able to offer it for the ship, should I be hired. I may have to stick to Lightscape for that, then.

Thank you for the explanation.

does c4d write the cubic vr out, or do you have to create a series of 6 images?

has anyone set up 6 cameras to create images to stitch back together in a qtvr app? if so, are there any special settings i have to follow? i am assuming all of the cameras probably need to have the same settings. what size space is this effective with?

Oh yes. Of course you need a square picture and a camera angle of 90 deg, than rotate the cam by 90 deg to get the six pics you put together in a make-a-cubic-VR-out-of-six-images app. I've done this in Lightwave but it should be the same in C4D.

HTH, otherwise i had to much redwine this evening

I definitly like the idea of QTVR so I rendered out 4 pics for a quick test.

My computer came with a program called COOL 360 (by Ulead), and it lets me stitch the pix together to make a panorama. But while it will export out an .EXE which contains both the panorama and a viewer, I can't seem to be able to output a QTVR .MOV file. The interesting part is that it is supposed to support .MOV files - after all, .MOV is the default file-type when you go to save. Unfortunately, when I try to save it as one, I get an error. I can save it under the .EXE format quite easily, but since tha tfile bundles the player too, it tends to be large in size.

Any of you guys familiar with this program?
