melissamarcelli
Hello everyone! I'm a "just-registered" new member! I'm an italian architecture student and I've just started rendering with v-ray for rhino 5 my thesis project's 3D model! Probably my problem is quite stupid but, as I've just started using this software I'm not able to find a proper solution! My project's exterior facade is covered with a expanded plate so I added this material to my texture list using an image which I punctured using a "channel-alpha" image (black:holes; white: metal). In the "render visualization mode" of the model this material looks nice but if I make the render it "disappeares" since it becomes veeeery transparent! I tryed to change almost every parameter but i really can't find the one that's guilty of this "ghosty" outcome! Anyone can help? Tnks a lot! Francisco Penaloza
did you try to inverting the map? pretty sure you can do it inside Rhino, but if you can't, just open the image in photoshop (or whatever photo app you have) and invert the image, you need to change what is black, make it white, and what is white, make it black. Also you may want to add some bump to your material, or even some displacement, so your mesh have some thickness. Welcome to the forum
melissamarcelli
Hi! tnks for your help! it worked! I can list the layers i used in case someone else will have my same problem! 1_ reflection layer 2_ diffuse layer n°1: with a jpg of my material and an alpha channel inverted (holes white) 3_ diffuse layer n°2: transparent 4_ diffuse layer n°3 (i just added it while trying to find a solution and actually it worked since my materal is not transparent anymore but i really dunno how is it possible) Now i have another problem.. I applied this material to several surfaces (with the same characteristics) but in the rendered image it is correct just in some surfaces. How is it possible? I copied the properties oF the surfaces all around so it should be the same..! I assigned to this material a pink ID colour and to the material of the surface below the surface of this material a green ID colour. I ask rhino to create the ID material IMG: i noticed that the surfaces not well rendered are green as if they don't have the pink one above. Any idea?
