Camera Tracking

Hey guys,

I'm shooting a handheld "walkthrough" on a camera phone in 4k resolution - not ideal, but it's something that needs doing very quickly. I'm looking at tracking the camera movement and putting a 3D model (just a new reception/link building) into the shot.

I will be using Autodesk Matchmover to track the footage, and premiere to stabilise it.

Should the stabilisation be done before or after tracking & compositing? I'm assuming after, otherwise the areas cropped out of the stabilised footage will be the equivalent to having the focal length change?

You should track when you have your shoot all fixed, tracking need as much help as posible.

If you are using a pro tracking software you need to have the profile info of your camera or lens equivalent for your phone.

Never used Autodek Matchmover but After effects will be good enough, to stabilize and track your footage in one stop.

Next time, rent one DSLR camera to avoid the Jelly effect you get with phone sensors ;)
