felipeabrigo
Hello, this is my first post. I am rendering a scene and everything goes ok, until I check vray lens effects, then, no matter which settings I use in anti aliasing, clamp output, subpixel mapping, shade context, I get bright spots on some surfaces, but ONLY if I turn vray lens effects on. Here is an example and settings: Edited April 7, 2016 by felipeabrigo
Chris MacDonald
So what does the image look like before you turned lens effects on?

Chris MacDonald
Well could you perhaps post the image before, so that we can see? And post the lenseffectsource image too?
felipeabrigo
ok, here is the image without lens effects and the lens effects source:
Scott Schroeder
First off, you are having all sorts of gamma issues, which could be hiding the fireflies that only the lens effects sees. Secondly, why is your lens effect set to 0 weight? That could be causing some issue as well.
felipeabrigo
Ok I'll check it out. Also I tried with bigger weights, and same problem.
Francisco Penaloza
Como queri la respuesta en Ingles o Chiloco? You should try to reset all your settings first. use a VRay Sun/Sky and do a test rendering, it should be fine then. From what I can guess you are using an HDRI to lit your scene right? maybe the intensity is way to high. Please reset everything to default values. Try using Reinhard as color mapping. Try a burn of 0.5 or 0.4, also change your antialiasing to VRay Lanczoz or Area. Use a V Ray sun, and do a test rendering, if everything looks fine, then turn it off and use your Dome light with the HDRI. You'll need to adjust your exposure. By default 3D Max and V Ray gamma works correctly, no need to move anything related to Gamma. Default is correct!! Saludos!
felipeabrigo
gracias wn, thanks man I'll check it, for now I have to deliver these renderings and it's not big deal since I can add glare in PS. But this is not the only scene I had this problem with, other scenes with different lights also have this problem. I guess I'll post again when I work with another one. cristiancojan
Hey guys. Really interesting thread for me, I had to deal with the exact same issues as the OP. Changing any settings- from lighting, sampling, or GI processing- didn't work, regardless of what I did. However, I think I found a solution when having to deal with an interior scene that had many glossy and reflective materials. Some of the materials were creating a huge amount of noise, regardless of the sampling I used. I found a solution for this issue online- for each reflective Vray material in the scene, I went to its options rollout and set 'treat glossy rays as GI' to 'Always'. The noise disappeared; and together with the 'denoiser' option this meant that I got a clear, noiseless render without having to tinker with any other settings. The funny thing is that the bright spots created after applying the Vray lens effect to the render also disappeared when doing this. I have to test this in other scenes as well; but people dealing with the issue mentioned by the OP might want to try this solution and see if it works for them.
