darkodobric
Hello everyone. I have a persistent problem with vrayshadows I cant fix like 8 months or so. I have attached too images. One a snapshot from cristofer nichols vray tutorial, where he uses a simple vraysphere light and gets THAT. I am using THE SAME everything, and I dont get even similar results. Maybe because vray changed since that time he did the tutorial, but this is not only scene I have problems with shadows. Look at what I got, that is not a shadow. That is A JOKE. Standard lights are giving better defined shadows, when set to vrayshadows, and because of this problem or lack of knowledge I just keep avoiding any kind of vray's lights. Shadows are simply not visible. I know if smaller source light, crisper shadow, and bigger one is giving blurred softer shadow. I just cannot get it. He somehow managed to get those shadows even without exposure control. If I did that, you couldnt tell if there is something in a photo, because without Exp control my scenes are almost black. Now, with exposure set, and I set NO DECAY on either light in scene, as you can see. I cannot manage to get those shadows neither with standard directional, spot light, nor with vraysun nor any light I put into scene. His image looks blasted with 2.5 multiplier no decay Vraysphere light, GI-irradiance map, brute force, and with all the same , and with additional exposure control settings my light looks as some stain from far away. No tutorial provided me with this knowledge all this time. I even bought new computer one month ago, so its not the graphics card. Same issue on another machine. Same issue after almost one year of learning and practicing. I solved any problem throughout all these months that a beginner can stumble upon. But this shadow thing is making me consider changing renderer so I could keep my sanity Please help me
Scott Schroeder
Post your settings. Not really sure what you are doing wrong. Latest Vray, sphere light, no decay, no exposure. As good as that tutorial is, it is very outdated.
