christosviskadourakis
Hello there, I wonder if there is any fast-smart-easy way to devide my complex poly into a net of edges in order to apply vraydiscplacement afterwards. Thank you in advance! Christos
Francisco Penaloza
any image sample of what you are trying to accomplish?? Lattices modifier
christosviskadourakis
any image sample of what you are trying to accomplish?? Lattices modifier It is not the most complicated object in the world but it took me a decent amount of time to click-ring-connect edges. I had to manually create some edges in order to keep the biggest part of the object as a "box" which the process of click-ring-connect whould work decently. To be honest, I feel I miss a usefull tool or something. Christos
numerobis
if it is only about sharp edges... maybe OpenSubdiv?
Francisco Penaloza
If you are using max 2016 you could use the chamfer modifier, that will keep your edges in place. For the rest of the mesh VRay displacement modifier should do the rest. If you like to actually have the mesh like that, you should start modeling not from a spline but from a polygon. Maybe a big plane, cut out the outline, you can give the poligon amount at the beguining or use the subdivide modifier, it will follow the pattern or oriebtation of the original mesh. For example you can start from a plane with 4 divitions then when apply suvbid you can increase to whatever is needed.
