SgWRX
after 3 years i finally got to sit in on a few design meetings with a couple of customers. in our conference room we have whiteboards and 80" monitor with computer hooked up etc... i got the idea that an ipad pro with sketch pen, would be cool for our designer to draw on top of a screen shot (from 3ds max viewport), a quick render (again from max) or even on some other type of screen shot from google earth or whatever... the reason i say screen shot is that the sketch apps require a file to be imported and then you can sketch on them, as opposed to sketching right on the monitor like you would with whiteboard or smartboard software. the reason i'm looking at the ipad pro vs simply using whiteboard or smartboard software is that a sketch app is a lot more "artistic" looking than what a whiteboard program is, when drawing on top of a screen shot or render. does anyone else have ideas in this type of situation? an example would be: if we are massing out a building on a site, generally it's all gray-scale models (or even from revit) and there's very little details in terms of buildings other than shapes like you might get with sketchup type 3d model without materials. at some point the client may want to suggest that "this part of the building could be expanded" or we could "put a covered patio here"... even the designer could say "we thought a walking path from this part of the building could wrap around to this part of a building". all those things then could be drawn over a screen shot or render, sketched artistically. this would be a working meeting situation where it'd be a waste of time to create full 3d models of walking paths and such since it might not be what the client wants, so we'd erase and move it... very WIP stuff. any thoughts? thanks,
