Corey Beaulieu
Hi All, I need some help.... No one has ever accused me of being a technical artist when it comes to hardware, but recently someone gave me a Tesla C2050 card and I wanted to give it a whirl. I know that ultimately it should help speed up my RT explorations and I hoped it may help with my PS 32 Bit comping, but beyond that I really know nothing. And it is likely that I know nothing in the first place. As I am testing Vray RT, I am choosing Cuda and it errors saying I need a more up to date driver. I have the most up to date driver. It locks up at times. Open CL works better, but none of it amounts to anything impressive for RT. Vray has spoken about RT improvements, but what I am seeing is so pathetic that I must be doing something wrong. With my 2 cards (In the title), what should my approach be settings -wise, to see the added power of a Tesla card? or is it so old that no improvement is that answer? It powers up, works on it's own and it seems to work during RT, but again, the result is terrible for both big scenes and a teapot. Where have I gone wrong? Why can I not see any benefit to a second card? I can post any additional info, just let me know what I need to post. I know so little about what I am doing with this card, but the price was right (free) so I wanted to try it out. Thank you.
Francisco Penaloza
Not expert on Teslas either here, but from the data Sheets. I think the performance you get it is about what you should hope for that generation of Teslas. It only has 448 CUDA cores and your Quadro K2000 has 384 so between both not much difference regarding VRay RT. Maybe in other app will give you more benefits like simulations but for ArchViz nowaday GTX are way better choise. Today's GTX CUDA counts are well over 1000's When you choose to render with VRay RT you can choose only that card, and let your Quadro take care of your viewport, that would be an advantage. Also when both cards work together the memory limit will be from the small card, in your case the Quadro; if you need more memory, you'll need to only use the Tesla. Tesla specs Quadro specs Hope some one with more experience can give you real world input

rodislavcanev
Hello, I have the same cards, but i thought i messed up buying them as i came to the conclusion that they dont combine. I wasnt able to make them combine. Both cards show up at Device manager, but the tesla isnt recognized. How were you able to combine them. Please help me out. I did everything i read i should do online, but they still dont combine. Can you tell me how you set it up and what drivers did you install? I would appreciate your help
Corey Beaulieu
Sorry, but I never did get the 2 running together. I gave up and just used the Tesla for a while and eventually went back to the K2000 as the Tesla didn't give me much of a boost at all and it took a lot more power to use as well as putting out a lot more heat. rodislavcanev
Ah. thats sad. Well i actually was able to run them together, but in a weird half-assed way. I placed the Tesla on the first slot and the Quadro on the secound and hooked up monitors on each of them(i dont think it works if i dont) Install a quadro driver and it works. They get recognized. however. when i run that maximus check program it shows an error. Stil able to choose which card to do PhisX tho. So it kinda works...
