heni30
Client wants to use a ceiling like this one for a store. Anyone know where to get something similar? Or a custom modeling site? thanx
Virgil Johnson
Maybe some parts from here? Free. http://archive3d.net/?category=445&page=
heni30
Yeah, definitely some usable parts. Turbosquid has some items too. Seems like you can also take wall friezes and just apply them to a ceiling. They have nice center pieces so it seems the only tricky part would be to have ornate rings in the middle. heni30
Thanks for the suggestion, Ernest. Not part of my skill set. Wish I had some leisure time to play with it. Edited August 1, 2016 by heni30

Ernest Burden III
Thanks for the suggestion, Ernest. Not part of my skill set. It is part of the job, so worth learning. I rarely use the technique, but it works. Does the architect/designer have any graphics or CAD or the manufacturer have an image of their patterns for the ceiling? Or are you being expected to make it up? Post what you have, that would help us help you.
heni30
http://3dsky.org/3dmodels/category/lepnina?page=1 Thanks! A lot of useful pieces. Does the architect/designer have any graphics or CAD or the manufacturer have an image of their patterns for the ceiling? Or are you being expected to make it up? The photo was the first contact for the project - I imagine he will do something that has that overall delicate feel to it. Ernest Burden III
It's usually pretty easy to take a ceiling detail drawing or CAD plan into Photoshop and create a map for displacement. The easiest way is to simply blur it and invert--instant height map.

heni30
Sent client to http://dikart.ru/ and http://3dsky.org/ and he went bonkers like a kid in a candy store. 3dsky charges $6 per element and dikart is free (files direct from the manufacturer) He picked out these - project starts next week.
