Sketchrender
Hi Quite a lot of the time I get sites that have level changes on then. Residential for example ,enter at 10m and raise slowly to 12m and so the road raises the footpath gardens houses etc. I generally set out by modelling a spline and raise the point in the spine to the correct level. Then offset the line and make it an editable polygons. From that start setting up paving from the new levels. It's seems a very long way to produce a model of this type. Am I doing it right? Thank you Phil
Chris MacDonald
I move points on the spline to their correct heights first before putting an edit poly on top, far easier to control slopes with bezier curves. Then I'll run the populate-terrain script to divide it into quads and run a relax modifier to smooth out any creases. I make sure I keep the modifier stack so that I can grab the original spline(s) to use for kerbs/railclone/roads/grass areas/etc.
