GTX1070 vs GTX 1080 vs GTX Titan for CAD and 3dmax Vray

Hello everyone;

 

Once again needing help from the great people on this forum.

 

I am currently building a computer to use for CAD and Rendering in 3ds max and Vray

 

Before looking at the rest of the components i want to decide on the Video Card?

 

the only Quadro i can buy in Thailand is the Quadro K4200 and i have not read good things about it.

 

So the question is what would be better?

 

Titan vs gtx1070 vs GTX 1080? Price difference between the titan or GTX1080 and the gtx 1070 is big but dont mind spending the extra money if it would make a big difference performance wise.

Rule of thumb for me for choosing video card for GPU rendering oriented is firstly to choose the one with the highest Vram 1st (the real amount per gpu not the total memory combined like on those dual gpu card e.g. Gtx790). And secondly choosing the most cuda core from the latest tech of gpu among those with the same highest Ram amount..

I don't think there will be any difference between the 3 in viewport performance.

Of course for VRay RT GPU there will be an almost linear gain the more CUDA cores you throw in the mix.

CPU rendering -RT or not - won't care.

This makes me wonder too abt video card componen that responsible as the determinant factor for view port performance as this is somewhat a different thing from render performance..
