I just wanted to say to Jeff, after I read your email, which are always great and very down to earth, that I thought a post is worthy of the work Jeff dose for myself as one, but I think to all who have visited this site.

I have been a member for as long as I have using Max and Vray, and didn't really discover the website until the internet finally became available in the office.

We had 2 lines one to Moscow, and one to the rest of the world, back in the early 90's.

This site has educated me, full stop, with out this site and the people on it I would not still be in business.

I could go into all the software I tried over the years, and search forms but nothing gave me the feed back this site did.

So I would like to say to Jeff thank you.

Phil

This was the first website I came across many moons ago before I was in the industry, studying architecture. I was so inspired by the wealth of information and the great community on this site. It was truly the first of its kind. Jeff, thanks for the inspiration!

Hello my friends!

As I write this to you I am here in Vienna at the D2 Conference workshop being inspired by the amazing work of Sanne Plomp and Karim Mousa, two former MIR artists who recently went out on their own to for a new studio called Plompmozes. On Friday we host our 13th annual architectural 3Dawards ceremony with the D2 team!

This year’s 3D awards ceremony is extra special for me as it is happening in August and this coincides with CGarchitect’s 15th anniversary! Wow!

It’s hard to believe it has already been this long, but it’s an achievement I’m extremely proud of. When I started CGarchitect in 2001, I was still working in production helping to manage a visualization department here in Canada for one of the world’s largest office furniture manufacturers. So many exciting things have happened in my career in that time, but the one constant has always been CGarchitect and the amazing community of artists that make it up.

Over the last 15 years I have had the opportunity to travel all over the world and have met thousands of artists, studio owners and visualization experts. Some of whom have become my very best friends. Looking back at the events and conferences we’ve organized, the competitions and awards we’ve hosted, and the many other things we’ve done with the community to promote and evangelize our industry, I honestly can’t think of a more rewarding career or a nicer community of talented, interesting and inspiring people I’d ever want to be associated with.

By far the most rewarding part of running CGarchitect has been hearing the stories of how careers have been affected by the site and how friendships developed through the site have impacted lives. My goal has always been to evangelize and better the industry and find ways to bring exposure to the talented people in our field. There are so many new things in the works, and hope to share that with all of you soon.

I’m sending this to nearly 100,000 of you from my personal email so if you want to send me any personal stories about how CGarchitect has impacted you, I would be so delighted to hear from you!

I look forward to meeting more of you around the globe and hope together we can do more amazing things for our community in the many years to come.

Thank you all for the support, inspiration and friendship. I am truly a lucky person to know you all.

  • 1 month later...

Thanks guys for the kind words. :) Sorry I missed this. Was travelling almost non-stop since the D2 event when I wrote this. I wish I was retiring nicnic LOL. Sadly no cushy retirement plan for me. I'll be working until the day I finally keel over. At the pace I'm going, that could be sooner than later....8 countries, some 130,000 miles of flying and nearly 4 months on the road this year....sill not done yet. Still loving it!

if you ever get to Brisbane, I'll buy you a beer, although you deserve he whole brewery!

CGArchitect has made it possible to connect with so many very talented people over the years,

so Cheers Jeff

Thanks Justin. :) Need to get down there one of these years. Almost went there twice, but the projects always fell through. I usually hit 2-3 new countries every year, so hopefully something comes up again soon!
