PC freeze - gtx 980ti

Hey guys,

 

I just installed a new gtx 980 ti. I was testing an evermotion archinterior with vray 3.4 RT(GPU) and after 20 seconds my pc freezes. Today i tested the same scene at work with same vga and it rendered it fine.

I also formatted my pc since it was also freezing before ( mainly when working in 3ds max 2015 funny it never freezed when working in max 14. and sometimes in ae )

 

i have 4x8gb ram , 3930k ( never overclocked ) and a 650W PSU.

 

Anyone had this issue?

Usually the RAM is causing such problems (freezing). Run memtest86 for a good 8-10 hours and/or you can check them manually, but it takes time, so be patient. Leave only on ram stick in the pc, take out the rest, then put the second, take out the first and so on, and render the same scene whit that one stick of RAM.

 

I would suggest to run memtest first, if it does not show any errors, then do the manual swapping part.

 

If no results/change even then, it could be a slot on the motherboard or some compatibility issues, but I'm guessing its something else (not problems with compatibility)
