Devin Johnston
A few years ago I was contacted by Creative Circle and for those that aren't familiar with them they are a staffing agency that connects creative types with companies looking to hire talent on a per job basis. They were looking to add a 3d guy to their list of talent and somehow they got my name, so I went down and had a meeting and decided I'd give it a try. The idea seemed simple enough and I figured if it gave me some side work that I couldn't have gotten myself that's all the better. So far I've only done one project with them and I wasn't very impressed with the communication or the compensation. I've been leery to accept anymore jobs from them because there only willing to pay about half of my usual fee and I feel like the clients are just looking for the cheapest thing they can get. I was wondering if anyone else has done work for them and if your experience was like mine or if it was more positive.
heni30
I haven't used CC but when I was living in the SF Bay Area I signed up with - I want to say ManPower Staffing but I'm not certain. It wasn't for complete renderings though. It was more for charette - down in the trenches - type help. The hourly pay was good and it was a great networking resource. The connections you make can lead to other jobs down the road; actually got a full time job when one of the job captains went off on his own and asked me to come along. John Dollus
Honestly, there will be 10 more behind you if you decide to remove yourself from their roster. One job over several years for half what you feel your work is worth? Not worth the 1099 paperwork imo
