TomD_Arch
I am working in Windows 10 Pro 3ds Max 2017/ mental ray/ backburner 2017 Has anyone been successful with sending just a final gather rendering to backburner and having it save the new FG map to a file? I want to just create a final gather map. Started up 3dsMax/ Backberner -manager and server in "Admin" mode 1. I have checked the "Calculate FG/Photons and Skip Final Rendering" box. 2. Set it to "Incrementally add FG points to FG Map Files. 3. I sent that to backburner and just used one node. Nothing is created.
Matt McDonald
I've done this in max 2014 but not 2017. Just a couple of thoughts, I don't think the FGM file is written until the job is completed so if you are killing the rendering before its finished there will be no file. I also assume you are saving the file to a location the render server has access to via UNC.
jackbird
That procedure works here. Does the user account running backburner server on the render slave have write permissions to the output folder? Is the output folder a mapped drive (H:\folder\file.fgm) or a UNC path (\\Fileserver\share\folder\file.fgm)? (should be the latter) Does the render slave actually calculate the final gather map and just not save it, or does it not get rendered at all? Does Backburner Manager log any errors?
