unwrap uvw

Hello!

 

How would you break this object?

 

What am I doing wrong, is it the modelling?

 

The larger part is easy, but the "wave" part on the front is all distorted when I unwrap.

 

Sorry if this is not enough. I can send you more detailed images if needed.

What does your UV layout look like?

 

I would probably approach it by detaching the UVs of the nozzle thing, defining a seam along the length of the bottom of the nozzle where nobody will see it, and pelt mapping that.

 

The main body is probably just a simple box map, or planar maps on the end plus an unfold around the body along the Y axis.

It's a prop for a movie I will produce with one of my teachers. It's still in the early stages but I must deliver a render with textures. I'm still a student and without much experience in this area.

 

I will definitely try triplaner map. Thanks!
