Adaptive Lights and Shadow Pass Issues

With the addition of adaptive lights in the new vray, it appears that shadow passed (raw, shadow, matte) are not rendering the same way, they appear super blocky/low res.

 

It seems if I crank up the overall scene subdivisions this helps but that drastically increases render times.

 

Is there another solution? Other than switching back to probabilisitic?
