SkylineArch
You should try to aim for 300dpi for printing in a catalog, text could be at 600dpi. You can set the PDF so it doesn't compress the bitmaps, or sets them to 300dpi. If you send a PDF and have some unusual or custom fonts, make sure to include them or convert the type to paths. Granted, you can print at any dpi you want, but the best is 300 if it's available. If you're printing a poster or display board, you can go to 150dpi, or even 100 because the viewer won't be as close to it as a catalog. I try to do all renderings at 5,400 pixels wide, it allows for 300dpi 11x17 prints or nice and clean posters. It also helps when you need to retouch something in Photoshop.
