Joe Luckett
Hi, So I've been finding that when I save selected on objects to bring into another scene the files are saving out at huge sizes. I think its been gradually increasing over a period of time so I'm wondering if its saving any sort of hidden data as well but saving selected on any object, no matter how small or low poly results in 40/50/60mb+ file and I don't understand why? Can anyone help with this? Thanks
heni30
Try doing select invert and and delete. Save and see what happens. That would narrow it down to the "save selected" option. There is a thread on that if you do a search of "big file" or "bloated file" or something like that.
thomascoote
Try installing this plugin a connection on LinkedIn shared last week - it's free https://www.sinisoftware.com/products/plugins/forensic Finds unseen bloat in the scene and removes it. If it's just one file, attach each of the objects you're going to save select on to a cube beforehand and see if it still happens.

James Vella
1. Save your selected item 2. Merge it into a fresh scene 3. Save new scene
himanshuchoudhary
1. Save your selected item 2. Merge it into a fresh scene 3. Save new scene Exactly. If you save objects from a bigger / main scene, max usually stores the whole material browser/editor information along with all the settings if you use any backgrounds/images/etc. So, What James said works well. Stephen Thomas
This used to be an issue a while back, worth trying to see if it's the cause of your issue: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Scene-files-increase-in-size-or-take-a-long-time-to-save.html
