michaelfountouklis
Hey guys. I am trying to make terrain look more realistic by using displacement maps. My thought is, can i use a displacement map to displace a surface but keep all its borders (surface mesh polysrf whatever ) at place? Because the way i am doing it it is losing all its borders and therefore its connection with surrounding surfaces and the model looks "broken". Thanks a lot in advance! Nicolai Bongard
If you make the terrain piece overlap an slope down below the other terrain piece you will most likely not notice any gaps. If you are using the default 3ds max displacement modifier you could try to select polys that are a certain distance from your edges, then use soft selection to make sure the displacement effect fades towards the edges.
