moritzpritz
Hey guys, I'm getting a bit helpless so I hope someone here might have an idea to jolt me back to making progress. Basically I've been exporting SketchUp models as FBX to 3ds Max. It doesn't look like they have any face orientation or general geometry problems as I've checked the model pretty thoroughly, and it renders just fine, for example here: Now I want to bake Vray lighting though, so I created a rudimentary UVW Unwrap with Flatten Mapping which looks like this: Nothing apparently wrong here, right? Wrong. Because once I go to Render To Texture, and configure the object to render a VRayRawTotalLightingMap (using the previously created UVs in channel 1) the result looks like this: Or on the geometry: It looks like there's random triangles or polys cutting into my UVs, basically obstructing what would be there with black. I don't know if it's a problem with the UVs, or the Render To Texture process (since normal renders look fine from any angle and on all faces). Does anyone have a hunch why this might be? I suspect it's just something fundamentally wrong with the geometry that's coming out of SketchUp. But maybe someone here has more experience, or has seen something like this before.
