pawelpotemkowski
Hi guys, I'm doing small reaseach about workflow in visualization postproduction. Do you still use cutout trees in PS? I noticed it's hard to find any high quality bundles of cutout trees on the market. Do you agree? I'm considering to prepare some with good value for money. Do you think there's still need for tree bundles? I'm enclosing a cutout for free for commecial use - just a sample. Thanks for any opinons. https://image.ibb.co/iwjjkv/001l.png Edited May 21, 2017 by pawelpotemkowski
James Vella
For foreground yes (like corner of the view for composition), 3D trees still cant match the fidelity. Lighting is the biggest issue with these, they either need to match exact or the artist needs to have some serious PS skills to match it
Greg Francis
Backdrop treeline/bushes cutouts with clean alphas are sometimes useful for us. Usually for covering small areas in images that our 3D trees didn't mask. That and what is being said above about foreground trees.
pawelpotemkowski
Thanks for your feedback so far. What are the most important things for you when you buy cutout trees? I'm enclosing another tree free for commercial use: http://image.ibb.co/ky7QAv/002.png
M V
If a client is looking for very specific vegetation or we are working with a landscape architect that might be on the picky side, then I tend to still use 2D more most of the trees and plants. It's way easier tracking down a specific tree in 2d than hunting down or making a model of one only to be told to replace it or move it over 3 inches.
