franciscosandoval
Hello there! I'm doing a project in sketchup and i wanted to make a video showing it, but there's no free plugin in sketchup that is compatible with v-ray. I have 3ds max in my computer, but i rarely use it, but i know that in 3dsmax there's no need to download plugins for this. So my question is: Can i import my project to 3ds max with all the textures i applied? Thanks
Chris MacDonald
Without wanting to discourage you, it sounds a lot like you're trying to run before you can walk. You don't know how to import a Sketchup model into 3Ds Max yet want to produce an animation in it? VRay is available for Sketchup, and as you said It isn't free. 3Ds Max doesn't come with VRay either, you will have to either use Mental Ray or Arnold renderer, depending on what version of 3DS Max you are using. You import a sketchup model by going to "File/Import". It will import sketchup models (saved as 2013) with whatever textures are on the front faces of objects, but will import them as standard materials which will need converting to whatever render engine it is you choose to use. franciscosandoval
My question is just: Do the textures remain the same as the sketchup file after i import it to 3dsmax?
Chris MacDonald
They should do.
