trhoads
Using AutoCAD 2004, 3D solid modelling, at times when I switch to the elevation viewport, it will not let me draw vertical and horizontal lines in the elevation, it is drawing in plan. In AutoCAD r14, all I had to do was set the current view as the active window. How do I do that in 2004?
Tim Nelson
Hmm, not sure of a super quick way to do it since I usually only use a single viewport. But you could trying typing in UCS, and then V for view - while you are in your elevations viewport of course.
trhoads
I shut down the program, re-opened, and voila, it was working again. That happens a lot with 2004.
mnisbett
I've experienced this myself and have found that you need to start the command in the viewport that you are going to work in. For example if you want to draw a line in the top viewport but start the line command in the front viewport then move to the top viewport you'll experience what you stated. However, if you are in the top viewport and then start the line command it should be fine. There are situations where this still doesn't work. When this happens just reset the viewports, go to Views, new viewport, four equal (or whatever you have set). This has worked for me. I think by doing this it resets the default UCS's.
