advice for billboard render

Recommended Posts

Hello,

i need to make a render for a billboard (3m/2m). it needs to be a photo-match from a 3d building in a existing photo. The viewers see at 2/3m distance or even closer

Now i have some questions about this that hopefully somebody can answer.

1) On wich pixelsformat do i need to render this to get a good result

2) Do i need to render the background picture with the 3d model (3dsmax) OR

do i only need to render the model and photoshop this in the photo afterwards.

If i go the photoshop way do i need then a big frame photo or can a regular 16M reflexcamera do the trick ?

Thx for the advice in advance.

1) Something that matches your format, like 3000 x 2000 pixels?

2) Doesnt matter, either way if you render the photo as a background in the render or comp afterwards, the original image will still be the original size, just upscaled/blurred to some extent.

There are some sites that can determine if something is "retina" or not, just google "is this retina" and it should take you there. However you hardly need to render out something incredibly high res. There are usually limits to how high res the prints of that size is made, even though the printers usually want the highest possible resolution source material to work with.

When it comes to wether or not a 16m reflex camera can do the trick, just google the specs of the camera and see if the highest resolution it can take is something you would be satisfied with.
