aashkarahmad
Hi I recently updated Vray 3 to 3.4 along with 3ds max, from 2014 to 2017. Vray 3.4 is not able to render any scene in 3ds max 2017. After sometime Vray just stops and the computer runs out of memory. The Same scene is rendering fine in 3ds max 2014 with Vray 3 and at the much lower consumption of memory. I tried everything, upgraded the dynamic memory limit in Vray, changed the viewport driver in 3ds max 2017, and installed the windows updates. I also saved the scene separately in 3ds max 2017 but rendering could not complete. I reinstalled the 3ds max 2017 and Vray 3.4, but no luck in sorting the issue. I am using a Dell laptop with the config as follows: Intel HD graphics(in built) core I5 AMD Radeon graphic card - 2gb 8 gb ram I have also installed latest c++redistributables and net framework. The image shows the point where Vray stops rendering. the scene is 150 mb in size, other smaller scenes also meet the same fate.
notamondayfan
Why haven't you upgraded to 3.6? 8gb of RAM is quite low, and with a scene with high poly, displacement, etc you could find yourself unstuck.
aashkarahmad
But as I mentioned the scene with high poly, displacement, etc works fine in 3ds max 2014 Vray 3. Problem is 3ds max 2017 and Vray 3.4, where the scene wouldn't render at all. I know 8gb Ram is low, but not that low to not render the scene at all. notamondayfan
Sounds like something Chaos Group needs to look at and de-bug the scene. Best to post on their forum.
