Lionwithin
Does anyone have a workflow for modelling in DWG and then importing into SKP for Lighting, Materials, Camera, etc. that will allow me to go back and make changes to the DWG and re-import back into SKP without having to completely re-start the process again. For my workflow DWG to MAX I use the File Link Manager, it's pretty slick. I can make all the changes I want and as long as I make layers by materical, I simply re-load and Im done. jansandstrom
I import dwgs from Revit to SketchUp with the workflow in my post here: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=68000 There are some scripts mentioned there to make materials from layers that can speed up work if you have to reimport a dwg file. Hope it helps.
Lionwithin
Where can I find that "TIGs Layers Material tools." OK, I located that plugin, still need some playing on my part. Dosen't seem to reapply the materials when I re-import an updated DWG. That's the point correct? SketchUP should automatic applies materials to layer names? -Update, I got it too work. BUT I wish there was a way to group more then one layer to any given material. I've got 44 diffident layers, but only 5 different materials. Example, I've got several diffeent layers for Glass, but there all the same type of glass but are layered in such a way I can turn some off and some on. jansandstrom
Maybe try something like what I describe when going from Revit. Before export make a copy of the file and put stuff on a layer with the name of the material wanted and then export.
