guenther Malek
Hi everybody, When opening in max 2016 old files, generated in max2014, objects with an EditMesh Modifier are heavily damaged! See my example attached. Anybody that knows that issue?
James Vella
looks like it could be a scale issue. It also looks like the 2014 image has a isoline meshsmooth or nurbs enabled in mesh. Try reset xform, convert to editable poly and then merge it into 2016.
notamondayfan
re-open it in 2014, collapse as many modifiers as possible, turn of any mesh / turbo smooths, and re-save. Then merge into 2016.
Josef Wienerroither
I remember this being caused by a specific bug fix in the edit mesh modifier that landed between Max 2014 and Max 2016. So collapsing that affected edit mesh modifier would cure it. I think you even can find the corresponding note in one of the bug fix lists, but don't know when exactly the fix happened...
