jonasmotiejunas
i've been trying to achieve lighting beams with environmental fog and i like the results, but there is one problem that the envirnmental fog gizmo is too visible outside of the light. is it possible to make it visible only where the light is? thank you (see image attached) Edited October 26, 2017 by jonasmotiejunas
Nicolai Bongard
Fog usually fills up the space all around, so the correct way to do it would be to fill the entire scene with fog. However if you just need it for artistic purposes; First render your finished scene without fog. Then in the render settings you use an entirely black material or some kind of matte material in the override slot, turn off all the lights that are not supposed to show the fog, and turn on the fog (not within a gizmo preferably) before you render again. Then you should end up with a completely black scene with just the lightbeams visible. Then you can comp that over your original render.
