georgechianese
I purchased a dell poweredge r810 to use as a render server. Paid 437.00 for it. 4 cpu's, 32 G ram, 24 cores, no hdd. After trying unsuccessfully to add a HDD I hired a tech to install 2 hdd's and win7. This added another 350.00 to my investment. I can only use 2 cpu's now as that's all win7 pro supports. Ok I guess I can live with that. 12 cores, 32G ram for 800.00. Problem is after installing 3dsmax 2018, I cannot get it to run. Set graphics mode to nitrous software which got rid of 1 error message, But now it seems to load, I can see the max window, but then get the message of an error has occurred, max will now close. Can anyone help? Do I need to send this back and lose 350.00?
georgechianese
Solved. Installed Asus geforce gt630 video card. After installing drivers Max was working. Upgraded to w10 pro workstation and now all cpu's are functioning. So the server is fully operational for a little over 1100.00.
