Vray 2 on 3DS Max 2016

Is it possible to run Vray 2.xx on 3DS Max 2016?

 

My studio usually uses Corona but we want to do some experiments with Vray for one project. We are running a mix of 3DSmax 2013 & 2016, my machine is on 2016. The 2013 machine seems to pick them up a licence ok, but it's on Vray 2.5.

 

My machine isn't picking up a license, but we have 6 server licences on the server which I can view as free and active via :30304/getstatus. so network access is ok. I'm running Vray 3.6 which is probably why the old licences don't work, but can I install 2.xx on Max2016? I seem to remember a point at which both had to be upgraded together in my old office.

There is no software compatibility per say.

But having two different licenses, that can be a problem.

You should contact Chaos group.

Now why you want to use V Ray 2.XXX when you already are testing VRay 3.XXX
