Asset tagging

Hiya.

I've recently started organizing all the 2d cutouts and textures in my library, but I've ended up with loads of subfolders that are just a pain to use in the end.

So I was wondering if anyone knows of some good techniques or apps for tagging assets. Maybe something similar to the way mrcutout.com is organized?

you don´t really need any specific software to tag files, you can just right click on them and go to the ¨details¨ tab and then add a tag. But of course this is not very effective when trying to tag lots of files so I would recommend you Adobe bridge or Project Manager (max plugin). Hope ot helps!

Connecter allows you to tag 2D assets as well as 3D assets. One particular benefit is that you won't need to redo any of your current organization as the app simply organizes things within its own interface and leaves the assets where ever they may be.

I am using it for six years at least and it is great. Updates are coming regularly and you get the ability to relink assets. You can preview ies files, hdris and can batch render previews of your 3d models + lots of other stuff.

It is a great piece of software.

I personally just include "tags" in the file name. ie Woman_Young_Standing_Walking.jpg or Furniture_Chair_Modern_Dining_Virta.max

 

I can then just search the library.

Thank you for the answers. I tried out Connecter and so far it's exceeded my expectations
