gabrielzaga1
Hi Folks, This material has me scratching my head and I was hoping to get some of your thoughts purely for educational purposes. See attached images of a sample of the material. (Sorry If these are rotated, I am not sure why, first post) This is a stainless steel countertop material that has a very fine raised pattern, no more than 1mm wide. I tried creating this material in a true-to-life way, with an accurately scaled bump map. But my tests just come out like a gray material with a lot of noise. Obviously the scale of the details are just to fine for the pixels in my image to pick up. I had to move on from this project, but I feel like this can be a learning opportunity to hear out how you guys would have tackled this material. Thanks for reading and your thoughts are welcome! Chris MacDonald
First you'll need to have a low enough noise threshold/high enough resolution to pick out details like that. Secondly try turning off bitmap filtering.
