heni30
What the Renderer's section of Hell might be like: "MORE COLOR!.... FASTER!.... PRETTIER!"........ https://mymodernmet.com/modern-architecture-thomas-kinkade-painting-robyniko/ Edited October 1, 2018 by heni30

Simon Moir
I'm not sure I'd hang one on my walls, but I can't help but secretly admire Thomas Kinkade. I also like Evgeny Lushpin, similar style.
heni30
I agree. I think he is a master of spatial articulation via light and color. His big flaw is using the same artistic cliches in a formulaic way. So it's like he's just cranking out what titillates the masses. I've seen non PR renderers who also do "fine art" on the side - usually not very successfully. It would be interesting to see if he does "non-commercial" work just for his own pleasure. (It would be funny if he had all these outrageous Egon Schiele-type psychedelic nudes stashed away in his closet.) Historically there have been great artists whose loose preliminary color sketches have a lot more vibrancy and spontaneity that the finished piece. I'm thinking of a Degas exhibit I saw - prelims were as modern as any '50's abstract expressionism-era work. I can't help but secretly admire Thomas Kinkade. (guilty pleasures are allowed - it's ok to have Justin Beiber on your playlist - I'm a big fan of KPOP) Wow! - Evgeny Lushpin's stuff looks GI-ish. His surfaces are a little too clean but his light/tonal continuity is amazing. Edited September 28, 2018 by heni30
