hoseinasadi
Hi. I've run into this weird problem when applying turbo smooth. I created a simple box , applied a chamfer modifier and then applied turbo smooth on top. As you can see some of the edges have become black and this shading issue is also visible when rendered. Any idea why is this happening?
Francisco Penaloza
I would check all vertex are weld, then reset smooth groups. Also, I would place edges closer to the corner to limit the smooth modifier.
hoseinasadi
weird thing is that when I open my friend's correctly made turbo smooth model I get the exact same result! Im thinking this may be an issue with my 3ds max? any idea what might be wrong with my 3ds max?
Francisco Penaloza
Well, I think Turbo Smooth is doing what it supposed to do, trying to smooth your surfaces, but since they are flat and do not have enough subdivs then it just bends a little the geometry. What are you trying to achieve anyways?? for what I see, that can be archive with smooth groups too.
Dejan Sparovec
It looks the same for me. Just add another turbosmooth iteration and it should look fine. Also, when quad chamfering edges, adjust the Edge tension setting to 0.
