shanehiggins
Hi. I just wanted to find out if Maya using Vray is a suitable package in the archiviz industry. Most companies Ive viewed online typically use 3dMax and revit as a software. I ask as I only have experience in Maya. Thanks Shane
Francisco Penaloza
If you are good at Maya, you should be fine. Having said that, as you already find out there are "standards" in our industry and working with that could be your main issue. There are millions of assets that you can buy or render to make your Visualization faster and better, but 90% of them are created for 3D Max. Also, the integration between 3D Max and Revit is way better than Maya, actually Maya has a hard time understanding the organization from Revit, naming and groups are a mess. Having said all that, yes you could do great work with Maya, or Cinema 4D, or Modo, Blender or any other 3D Package, but it won't be easy when you have to share or exchange assets with other companies. If you work solo, is not a big deal.
shanehiggins
Thanks for the info. If I convert a revit or cad file in max, to an fbx file, would that be a possibility. Im not sure what formats max exports as. Shane
