pskebba
I was curious if anyone else is having this issue that I'm having. When using a script like floor generator and/or AVIZtiles for roof tiles, the material ID's are not appearing in a random order, but instead a very distinct repeating pattern. Changing the seed in the script's modify panel doesn't do anything. Even when I run the RandomMaterialID script from scriptspot it doesn't work - it will change the base poly colors on each ID, but they're still in a distinct pattern. The only workaround I have found is to completely collapse the spline with floor generator on it (or the AVIZ tiles object in that case) to an editable polygon, then run the RandomMaterialID script "By Object" and then AGAIN as "By Element". The problem with this is that I like to keep my workflow non-destructible and it makes using/modifying these objects for subsequent scenes impossible. pskebba
Naturally, shortly after posting this I found the solution. For anyone else having this problem, you can use the "MaterialByElement" modifier (how I missed this I have no idea) that is built into 3dsMax. ahmetpehlivan
Another solution could be to use "multisubobject" materials with aviz and floor generator
