Morne Erasmus
Yes, I know there's no such thing as a budget RENDER laptop / desktop, but humor me! The budget is 1250 Euro and for that I'm looking for something with following criteria: Must include Windows 10 Pro Must be able to render with VRay and Run 3ds Max 2019 If laptop, then best "render" hardware for either cpu or gpu (can always later get an eGPU) If dekstop, must also include 24" monitor, keyboard, mouse When you're done laughing, let me have some specs...... Scott Schroeder
For that price, you won't find a laptop that is worthy. We have MSI laptops at work and we're at about a 50% failure rate on them. Despite being gaming laptops, the rigors of rendering and real time apps is blowing the fans out left and right. We've also had a few swollen batteries. My advice is desktop all of the way. This is an excellent site for builds or seeing other builds within your price range: https://pcpartpicker.com/ https://pcpartpicker.com/builds/#X=0,145000
Nikolaos M
Here's something you could start with PCPartPicker part list It's strange that you are located in S. Africa, but the budget you mention is in Euros. If only you could stretch it a bit to something like 1500$, you could easily include 32gb of RAM and a much better monitor. See what you can do about it. It's a pity to have a crippled rig after spending almost 1300$.

We have MSI laptops at work and we're at about a 50% failure rate on them... Oh. I was about to suggest an MSI laptop . I recently helped my artist son buy one, a 17.3" MSI, NV 1070i card, which I borrowed for a few weeks to render frames on a big animation. It is doing well, and my kid is hard on hardware of any kind. (I have stories). I went with the MSI vs. an identical spec and price Dell because Dell wanted a week or two to send it, I could get the MSI off-the-shelf at a store in NY City (with parking!). The MSI did have special cooling included. But...what Scott said. Edited March 22, 2019 by Ernest Burden
Morne Erasmus
The Dell G3 looked interesting, that is, until I looked at the reviews.... Same thing for the Asus TUF FX504
Morne Erasmus
I'm getting a "PCPartPicker is unavailable" on their site. I wonder if that's a region thing, or their site is currently down. Can somebody check and see if they're getting the same message please....
Stephen Thomas
If you haven't managed to access yet, here is a screenshot of the list. If you are not planning to overclock you could also save some by not buying the aftermarket cooler as the Ryzen comes with one. Although the Dark Rock Pro is a very nice bit of kit
Morne Erasmus
Leaning towards one of these: https://www.amazon.com/GL703GS-DS74-.../dp/B07BP9SFZ5 What do you think? The SCAR2 has better graphics, but the SCAR 1 seems to get better reviews and cheaper. SCAR 3 about to land, but way too costly

mauarduz
If you don’t need to BE mobile, go desktop all the way, you can always set up something decent for desktop rendering with that budget, even with non-fancy hardware, but laptops are never a first choice for rendering. beckycraig
Based on your requirement I would say that you need to buy a laptop that has atleast Intel Core i5 or higher, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD, FHD or 4K display and Dedicated graphics card with 4GB VRAM. You can also go for MacBook Pro 16" If you can increase your budget. Source: https://www.thecrazybuyers.com/best-laptop-for-video-editing/

vishal baburao kale
If you are looking laptop for rendering then in budget laptop you can go with AMD Ryzen 5600H processor as under 700 dollars to 1000 dollars this is best economical option as it come with good speed and most importantly you get 6 cores that is great choice for multi tasking, now there are high chances you will end up getting 8GB ram in this budget but make sure the laptop has upgradability option up to 16GB and later add one more memory stick this will help in rendering additionally try to choose a laptop that has dual memory support, another thing is you must have SSD drive to boost things faster lastly graphics card do play a role in faster rendering yet its not necessary to spend on high powered gaming laptops you can manage with budget gaming laptop GTX 1650 or GTX 1650ti, however if you are willing to spend above 1200 dollars then things can change a bit you deserve below specifications. CPU 11th gen intel core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with 8 cores. Ram 16GB upgradable up to 32GB Storage capacity 512GB NVMe SSD with upgradable option Graphics card RTX 3060, 6GB. Display 15.6" with Full HD resolution 1920 x 1080 (If you are getting higher resolution such as QHD quality in this budget then just go for it yet full HD is more then enough) Edited November 6, 2022 by vishal baburao kale spelling mistakes
